Open Recovery/Family Night

 

 

 


 
GOALS & OBJECTIVES OF COMMUNITY EDUCATIONAL OFFERING

Open Recovery / Family Night is a community service education program offered free to the public and interested professionals.

All are invited to this program which is being offered Tuesday Mornings from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, and, Tuesday Evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, at Saint John the Baptist Church located at 140 North Beaver St. York, PA. This program in York began on Oct.19th, 2004.

A second program location was added in November of 2005. The meetings in the Drums/Hazleton area are offered Thursday Evenings from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Good Shepard Church located at 87 S. Hunter Highway, Drums Pa. All are cordially invited to attend.

A third program location was added in the Camp Hill, Pa. area. The meetings in this area are offered Monday Evenings from
6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut St., Room 228, Camp Hill, Pa.

 

PURPOSE OF PRESENTATION (GOALS):

The purpose of the program is to provide education and discussion for those individuals in recovery, individuals in need of recovery and seeking information about resources available. The family members of those in early recovery or those who may be in need of recovery will also benefit.

In addition local treatment professionals and others working with the chemically dependent and their families are welcome to attend.

A literature table will be provided for agencies that may wish to offer services and distribute their literature.

 

PROGRAM FORMAT:

The first hour will be an educational presentation on aspects of the illness of chemical dependency and/or the impact upon families. The purpose of the presentation being to answer questions and offer possible solutions.

The second hour will be dedicated to the audience breaking into small groups to discuss the information that was offered during the first hour and how they may apply it to their individual situation.

The program will be ongoing and open ended thus allowing an individual to come into the program at any time and attend future sessions as long as they may desire.

Professionals from local community agencies are welcome as guest presenters on the topic of their choice. The only limitations are that the topic deal with useful information for those in early recovery, recovery in general and their family members.
